Frequently asked questions
General
Q.How can I be sure that your engineers know what they are doing?
Seems obvious, but you would be surprised at how often we are asked this. All our engineers are gas safe registered, as required by UK law. We take pride in the fact that all of our guys are trained to a high standard and have an expert level of competancy.
Q.Can you travel elsewhere in the UK, apart from the West midlands?
Yes.
Q. How long does a PLUMB FORCE guarantee last for?
It depends on the manufacture, some offer 1 year, 2 years or even 5 years
Q. how often should I get my boiler serviced?
We recommend every 12 months to avoid breakdown and maximise efficiency.
Q. How many litres of hot water does a boiler provide per minute?
It depends on the kilowatt rating of the boiler. E.g. The Ferolli optmax 31c offers 14 litres per minute.
Q. How energy efficient is our boiler?
This is all dependant on the boiler you opt for. We recommend an A rated boiler above any other.
Q. Do you provide your own parts and labour guarantee?
Yes we do for 3 or 4 years
Q. What are Thermostatic valves?
Thermostatic radiator valves are often known by the initials “TRV”. A TRV works by sensing the surrounding air temperature. It progressively closes down the flow through the radiator as the air temperature rises, thereby cooling the radiator and regulating the room temperature.
Q. What is “SEDBUK”?
SEDBUK stands for “Seasonal Efficiency of Domestic Boilers in the UK”, and is an industry standard for measuring and publishing the thermal efficiency of a boiler. This is so the public can compare the economy of various makes and models of boiler on the same fair basis.
Powerflushing
Q. What is Powerflushing?
Power flushing, in conjunction with SYSTEM PRE-CLEAN, is an excellent way to pre-commission clean new heating systems, to remove excess flux, swarf and other debris, and the grease and oil used to prevent rusting of components before use.
Q. When should I use Powerflushing?
It is prudent to power flush a heating system immediately before fitting a new boiler to an existing system to prevent possible future problems. Many systems are found to contain corrosion and sludge, even if no flow problems have yet shown themselves.
Existing debris is often mobilised by alterations to the system/piping and the increased efficiency of the new boiler, and may then accumulate in the boiler heat exchanger, causing noisy operation, reduced efficiency and, in extreme circumstances, failure of the boiler. The high efficiency and compactness of modern boilers, developed to minimise fuel costs and pollution, means that they are more susceptible to problems caused by debris in the system water.
Q. Can Powerflushing damage my pipes?
No. Due to the non-chemical nature of the process, powerflushing presents little risk to your system. Plumbforce would never recommend the process if our engineers considered it to be unsuitable.

Landlord – Gas certificates
As a landlord, you are legally responsible for making sure that a Gas safe engineer checks the gas appliances in your rental properties. Gas appliances should be checked every 12 months to ensure they are safe to use and if succesful a gas safety certificate is issued. The tenant must receive copies of these certificates within 28 days of the tenant moving in. The safety certificate must be kept for 2 years
